- Creative Zen Vision:M - the dongle
This is the inside-pcb in Creative's Zen Vision:M dongle - an adapter that connects to the bottom of the unit through a proprietary connector and provides usb / 5V dc / a/v-out. I opened it up to see if there's anything one can do to change the shape of the adapter itself - the problem is that it is a bit smaller than the player and *may* get lost one day (which of course adds to Creative's marketing strategy of selling the adapter as accessory for something like US-$ 9,95). I don't know what made them go for this stupid solution (despite the marketing reasons) as all important jacks (a/v-out & USB) are separate. - Creative Zen Vision:M - the dongle

Ok, this is the point I am getting at: trying to rebuild the actual - way too small (!) - connector with a shape as outlined with the pencil. That is, the connector itself should have the same size and feel like the rest of the player - the same design, and not this slim layout. - Creative Zen Vision:M - the dongle

back side of the connector - Nokia pop-port 3,5mm connector (mono)
I recently came across these Nokia pop-port connectors that provide a 3,5mm headphone output jack for connecting the mobile phone (=mp3 player inside) to any stereo system. As I wasn't willing to pay all these crazy shipping charges on ebay, I was triggered to build this thing myself and consequently only bought a cheap hands-free headset for something like 1,- EUR... - Nokia pop-port 3,5mm connector (mono)

Inside this 4mm cable are just three simple microphone wires that connect to the 3,5mm output jack and on the pop-port connector from that cheap headset to three different pins. - my new Leaterman Wave Sheath/Case/holster

I made this case/pouch/cover/holster/sheath - thing for my new Creative ZVM media player. Stuffed with Silk inside, there's no reason to fear and damage due to transport AND best of all: the USB dongle (as pictured in my photostream) fits as well. Could I ask for more? :-)
