An advantage of the ATI - dedicated - gfx chip is that the heat pipe is much bigger, resulting in a better cooling of the CPU (as well as the other components).

Better cooling = less fan activity = less noise.

The disadvantage of course is that it sucks an extra ~ 12W while running so battery runtime is better on the integrated (Intel) version.
